June 29, 2010

It was the perfect weather to just take in the moment. A cool breeze moved the curtains and the leaves of the big maple tree outside rustled like paper.

Also, I just had to share this. I went on quite a few photo walks today. This little guy let me get this close (not a zoom lens) and curiously watched me with a nut in his mouth, from his side of the tree.

The light and air were electric after a big flash summer storm.

I often find myself in pathless places when photography is the one leading me instead of reason. Art is more passion than logic. Maybe it's stupidity also, but "dumbness" can be a good thing; being too afraid of doing something wrong or stupid can hold you back from making.

Why yes, the second floor is always a good place for an exterior door.

June 25, 2010

A day of making things began with bagels in the morning:

Yumm... Rise, boil, bake, and EAT!

Then I moved on to headbands. I think I've become obssessed with making these. Anyone want one?! They are really easy and fun to make. Or you can jump on board and enjoy it yourself, this is the main tutorial I used.

I now have an attack against bad hair days, especially in the rainy, hair frizzing weather.

Summer on the river, it was very humid today but not too hot. I'm loving summer more than I ever have before!

Trying to get out of my funk one little artistic attempt at a time.

There is a whole other section of fruit at the market that wasn't there a month ago and I'm grinning at it! Cherries and plums and peaches and nectarines!

June 20, 2010

Pomegranate strawberry Italian soda...now this feels like summer!

Heat.

June 18, 2010

The light before dusk on a summer night has pockets of golden yellow against cool blues, and I got to see it in all these moments on a walk.

June 15, 2010

I went for a walk and discovered sooo much. Including my new favorite alley. Here are some of the highlights. I intend to return to some of these spots and shoot with film.

June 13, 2010

I worked in my darkroom for the first time in way too long. This is one habit that's good to start again.

June 12, 2010

A cold rainy day defiantly calls for homemade noddle soup.

June 11, 2010

My first attempt at flan. Tasted great, but the texture was slightly off, I think I overcooked it by 5 or 10 minutes. I'll just have to make it again!

June 10, 2010

I cut my walk short when it felt like a storm was about to crash down. But the weather tricked me. I'll have to talk a wildflower id walk soon.

Please please turn on the water for me!

This is my 366th post! That's over a year! I'm pretending these flowers are in honor of that (although they're really for no reason other than having fresh flowers).

June 6, 2010

I made a sewing machine cover. Yes, my cat has taken to only laying on hard surfaces (tables, counters, bookcases) in the past two days. Yes, that is a mini clay replica of her on the right that a friend made for me.

And yes, those are adorable little owls of the cover's pocket!

June 5, 2010

Happy plants make a happy me.

June 4, 2010

Step 1. Pick some fresh herbs.

Step 2. Make dinner! My first attempt at homemade perogies.
